I just wanted to pass on my pitch black IPA that I just made. I am actually very proud of this beer because it is the first beer I have made that I wont have to brew a second or third time to make it right. Honestly for me its perfect just the way it is.

Extract:
10lbs Pale LME (2.0 SRM) I wanted a high ABV but it turned out 7.1 (kind of low)

Steeping grains:
8oz De-bittered black malt (500 SRM)
5oz Caramel 40L (40 SRM)
4oz Pale malt (3 SRM)

Hops:
1oz Warrior (60 minute mark)
.5oz Cascade (45 minute mark)
.5oz Cascade (30 minute mark)

Wirlflock tab (10 minute mark)

Yeast:
White labs CA Ale WLP001.

Primary 7 days
secondary 14 days.

Keg or bottle, wait or 2 weeks and enjoy.

Glad you like it!

I think a lot of folks around here would like to see some hop additions in the last 20 minutes to get a lovely hop aroma. Although your IBUs are probably up in the 60s with that big ole warrior addition, I don't think you can really even call it a (black) IPA with only 2 ounces of hops. But if you like it who cares

edit: also for a beer that I assume had a starting gravity of around 1.070 I would advise leaving it in the primary for more than 7 days.

I understand what you are saying but honestly it is stupid close to Widmer Brothers Pitch black IPA just slightly less hoppy which I like. If someone wants a stronger hop bite then they can add more if they like. For me its perfect.
