My first beer I'd ever done was a California Common at a local BOP. I wanted to take that recipe, and do it at home The result is what you see above: A darker, somewhat malty with balanced hop flavor beer that's both easily drinkable, and surprisingly light and tasty. It's about 4 weeks old in this picture and tastes even better now.

If you're a first time brewer, get yourself a California Common kit, or find a great recipe on the forums, and have at it! You'll be glad you did.

Amen to that! I love Anchor Steam and have brewed an AG Anchor Steam clone a couple of times with pretty good success.

The 2nd kit I made was a cal common. Its still my favorite of everything I've made to date. Looking forward to making an AG version of it. It was a hit with everyone who tried it.
