I'm a bit of a Greek geek, so when I brewed an insanely complex stout, I decided to attribute to Heraclitus, the obscure philosopher. Here's a picture of my label:

and here it is on the beer:

I've used label kits before, but for this one just printed it on regular paper and glued it to the bottle with a glue stick. It worked much better.

Illustrator and Photoshop. Illustrator for the Helmstreet Brewery logo, so I can just place it wherever I want. Photoshop because it played so nice with the profile of Heraclitus I used that basically made the whole thing. I really liked the irregular outline of old webby which got an award in this year's byo label contest and wanted to do something similar. Thanks so much for the compliments. I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that I'm still almost a month away from being able to crack a bottle, but I really wanted to make a label.

Loving the label, and don't be ashamed that the beer's still not ready either. I've made a dozen labels the past two months and only have 4 or 5 brews to show for it. Some of the best brews start with a good concept/label. Just look at that guy in the ad at the top of the page! (please be a sam calagione ad...)

Scissors :D

I'm really glad I just started doing these on regular paper. Has anyone had any issues with labels coming off in the fridge / or not coming off in oxyclean when using printer paper and a glue stick?

Milk works really well too. Comes right off when soaked, but didn't budge when condensation formed on the bottle.

nice idea with the cut out face
you should do a greek god themed brew series :D
