Sweet. I would love to get one someday. SWMBO doesn't like the idea though. Motorcyclists have it rough in Las Vegas. Too many drivers on cell phones.

I don't think used dual sports are that easy to find in this area, and I'm sworn off e-bay due to past problems w/butthead sellers (and buyers)...

Try http://www.advrider.com/ good folks over there...

I have an 05 Suzi DR650 and love it to death. My other bike is a Yamaha FZ1, a great bike in its own right, but the DR is just so much more fun to throw around the corners.

I've had the FZ since Jan of 03, took some great trips on it too.

First time I've seen this thread. There are some nice bikes lurking around here. I especially like Chimone's paint job!! I've had this one for about 6 years. It's getting a little long in the tooth now, but make no mistake about it - it'll still run like a raped ape.

My next one will be a BMW R1200GS, but I doubt I'll get rid of this one any time soon. ;)

Uh, they're quick, are they?

I had a life changing crack up back in 1989 on my ride. SWMBO doesn't forbid much, but other women and motorcycles are completely out of the question.

Ha! Why would you! That is one sweet ride!!
Thanks. I think it's one of the nicer looking older "big" sportbikes. It'll be considered a classic before too long.

I guess it's all relative based on your perspective. Some might consider 0-60 in 3s and 175 mph quick. :D

Completely understand. My wife "tolerates" it and I haven't had any life changing crashes. I'm pretty picky about where and when I ride and I'm old/mature enough to listen to that voice inside that limits the stupid behavior. Hopefully that will keep me from writing checks my body can't cash.

LOL, I do understand. :cross: I'm just plain too old for that ride. I'm just doing good to herd my old bike around......

nice bike sparky. Ive thought about a sport bike, but I dont know. The wife is very tolerant about alot of things, and having one would make her worry. Hell I would worry more if I was on one, because well.... :rockin: :rockin: I got my bike for something to go to and from work. 45 mpg is a hell of alot better than my trucks 15.

Ive heard lots of great things about BMW's bikes. Good choice, what you waiting for? You got room in your garage for both?

I could afford it now, but I've got 2 car payments atm. I'll get one when we pay off one of the cars next year. If the garage gets too crouded for cars, bikes, brew stuff, etc., it won't be any of MY stuff that's ejected from the garage. That's my last bastion of control around my house where SWMBO has no say-so. She knows better than to go there! ;)

Damn straight!

Reminds me of the guys that say" I wear the pants at my house! What I say goes!" Goes right out her other ear, they mean. I've been married long enough to understand that women have stuff and we have s**t. When it comes time to downsize, ours is the first to go. It isn't right, it just is what it is. Thank God for sheds and garages!

Some nice bikes, I see! I haven't looked at this thread in a while -- too long, I guess!

I think I've got all the Christmas goodies dialed in properly now. Along with the Cycle Shack pipes, the bike now sports a Küryakyn Hypercharger and Yost Power Tube carburetor kit. The Hypercharger's butterflies are really sweet looking, but I'm pretty convinced they're just a gimmick (they're vacuum operated, so they look cool as you modulate the throttle, but they don't really affect much - there's a big opening on the underside of the air cleaner cover where I'm sure most of the intake charge comes from). However, the heart of the new air cleaner is a K&N filter with a smoothly radiused velocity stack, so it's gotta be better than the stock ham can. At 4,000' elevation, I didn't need to re-jet at all. I tried going up to a #45 slow and #195 main, but that was way too rich. I switched back to the stock #42 and #185 jets with the Yost Power Tube installed along with its blue needle with the clip centered, resting on one shim. I also got an aftermarket idle mixture screw, and I think I've got it tuned up pretty nicely. I'm definitely seeing an improvement in mid to high-range power and throttle response, and the engine is running really smoothly.

For some reason, my picture isn't showing up. It's in my HBT gallery. Weird...
