Got one of these babies recently. 59 cc![]()
Yeah...the vid quality, which wasn't great to begin with, went to hell when YouTube "processed" it. Oh well...it sounds ok. What you can't feel in the video is the 105 degree heat from that bright sun above.orfy said:Bright light Bright light......
Where's my glasses.

Actually, the cats are in the mufflers, so slip-ons negate the CA emissions stuff immediately...not that I care much. I chose the slip-ons for price. I would've gone with a full system, but it was well over my budget. The Cycle Shacks are pretty f-ing loud - my wife told me it scared the $hit out of her when I fired the bike up at 5:30 this morning to go to work.
It would really surprise me if I had no overlap on the cams - the idle and power band characteristics seem to be very consistent with moderate overlap cams. I don't think I'm going to swap the cams - I understand you don't gain much with a Sportster cam swap unless you're shooting for a true drag bike.
How are you making 108 rwhp with a 1200 conversion? Serious head work and different pistons? Sounds like a fun bike!

I've also been thinking it would be fun to build a bike - you can pick up some rolling chassis kits for a decent price. Something like this: http://www.steelthundercc.com/midusa_rolling_chassis.html
If I ever did that it would be fun to make a bobber to tool around town and keep the Uly for long rides.
LouT said:Building bikes is fun, but don't think you'll be getting an awesome bike at a bargain price. Yes, you can build it to a price point, but you'll get exactly what you paid for.
The RMV/DMV thing can also be a hassle, look into it before you order part 1.
Have fun!
Buell will be sweet, I've been eying them, too -- probably would go used since they can be found for bargain prices.
I'm also jonesing for one of those super motard type bikes. I saw a Yamaha WR450 dirtbike that was converted to motard with street wheels and tires, etc. and it looked pretty awesome. I have no room for toys, though -- just a 1 car garage. Wanting to put a detached 2 car garage out back with a room upstairs, but I think it'll be overkill for the neighborhood (probably never get our money back out of it). Oh well.
Yuri_Rage said:Lou - the bike was just getting warmed up in the video. It idles a little higher after a few more minutes or a couple of miles.
You should never have mentioned Zipper's. Now my gears are turning in a wicked direction... I don't think I'm gonna be able to convince SWMBO that I need that kit any time soon, but it just seems too cool...
Earplugs make the ride a little nicer with those new mufflers, though I routinely forget them before putting the helmet on.
alemonkey said:Yeah, I'll probably never get around to building one, but it would be fun if I ever had the time. Unfortunately work keeps getting busier all the time, so my hobbies are starting to fall by the wayside. If I ever did it would be for the experience and so I could have a bike just like I wanted, not to save money. Plus, I have a 66 Fairlane 500 gathering dust in the garage that I need to get rid of before SWMBO will let me get any bike.
A big garage is worth every penny....I have a detached 2 stall that's the size of a 3 stall, with a big shop area off to the side. We're thinking of moving next year and I'm hoping I can get a 3 car garage on the new house.
The super motards look like they'd be a blast to tear around town. I imagine you could put a "pseudo motard" together pretty cheap from a used dual purpose bike.
BTW, anyone see the new Buell 1125? Not really a practical every day bike, but it would be a lot of fun...146 hp at the crank in a 375lb bike.
