It's not much, but I'm pretty pleased with it! Made a stir plate. Going to wash my first yeast after bottling today, brew with it next weekend. It's the 1469 West Yorkshire.

The plate:
Box from Hobby Lobby-$8
Switch, rheostat, and power jack from Radio Shack- ~$12ish
Fan and hard drive for magnet- $free on freecycle
Wires and 12v wall wart- basement diving-$ free

Couple of coats of minwax polyshade from a leftover can.

Nice deep vortex in the little measuring cup at minimum load. Threw the bar at half load. Curious to see how it'd fair in a bigger starter. My favorite part is the panel jack for power. Keeps it tidy when not in use, and the box is big enough to store the wall wart and stir bar. The stir bar and keeper magnet will have a magnetic strip on wide side for storage. Don't want to lose them!

Thanks for letting me share, pretty stoked to start saving and reusing yeasties! ImageUploadedByHome Brew1394314229.475269.jpgImageUploadedByHome Brew1394314246.439798.jpg

Thanks! Oh, and another favorite bit. The knob for the rheostat is off a pair of Rectilinear Mini-III's (rather uncommon speakers from the 70's). I've had them forever, needed new tweeters and a recap job but never got around to it. This hobby is far more drinkable anyway. :mug:
