So last week I had a stroke of genius where all of us do.. in the shower. And I decided that the next time I brewed I would break out the camera & flashes and try some fine-art style photography of the brewing process while I brewed. I think they came out pretty good, might even put a few on the wall. Who knows, maybe I discovered a new fine-art category I can tap into? Brewtography if you will? Hahahaha.

Anyway, these are from my newest experiment that I very well may have to re-do. My brew day was a crap shoot from the start, forgot to freeze my icepacks last night, overheated my first set of mash water, accidentally under watered my subsequent mash water, computer crashed and tossed my BeerSmith timers, pitched yeast that doesn't appear to be taking... you know... the usual...

But hell, whatever, if I re-brew tomorrow or Sunday then so be it. That just means I get to take more pictures! Hope y'all enjoy.

P.S. I am only a patron of Honolulu Beerworks, I don't own it. Felt the need to mention that as the logo is in a few of the pictures haha.

nice pics, except for the third one down... is that an olive puking caviar?

Hahaha unfortunately there is no way to make a Lilikoi (Hawaiian Passion Fruit) appear appealing in a picture I've tried lol. They're awesome though. Makes a bangin BBQ chicken marinade too if you ever get a chance to use them. They're a bit more tangy than their purple cousins but I think they're even better than the usual variety.

Thanks Stillraining!

That's beautiful. I love the lighting and shallow DOF. You should make your signature a little smaller, it's distracting. I understand you don't want your work ripped off, but sometimes lowering the opacity helps as well.

Nice pics!

Have you ever been to the Home of the Brave Brewing Company in Honolulu? I work at a design firm and we designed and created the propeller flight trays they serve their flights in.

Passed, it's real sweat, kind of a benefit of living where it's 70+ degrees all year round when it comes to photography like this with drinks lol. Shot w/ a Nikon D3 and 85mm Macro lens. Most of the shots are vertically lit. I do it a lot with ingredients for food articles and any glass utensils etc. I take a glass table top, place the subject on top of it, put a flash underneath it and then suspend one over top as well.

Thanks Hello! Yea I leave the logo big on purpose. I've had to go after too many people over the years for cutting my logos off. It's even worse with stock photography like this (not that you guys would do anything like that) but I do it that way now because of Google back sampling. Better safe that sorry lol.

John, I've never heard of them? I looked it up and their site says they had a Kickstarter in 2014 but I'm not sure if they're still open?

The bar is still open but they're serving commercial beer. I think they're still working on getting their brewery going, but their bar is sort of a museum with the goal of commemorating those who served in WWII. I hear it's a cool place, but I'm in CT so I probably won't find out for myself anytime soon.

Oh wow that's cool. It's just down the street from my day job according to Yelp, I'll have to check it out soon.
