I had planned to brew this morning and had 2 " assistants" who wanted to come and help and learn.

First off I cleaned my keggle since it had not been used in a while, when I opened the ball valve to drain it , NOTHING came out. I took everything apart and there was a spider and spiders nest crammed in the pickup tube so tightly that nothing could come out. I got that cleaned up and put back together then replaced my sight glass on the keggle and marked my gallons. I figured out that somehow I got them messed up and was at least a half gallon off.... I got tired of waiting on the assistants so I left and went to do some errands.

I got home and they showed up about 1PM. we got everything ready and started heating up strike water ( my burners suck so I am buying two bayous)...... I get the grains in the mash tun and ask my assistant to set it up on the table. He picks it up while standing on the drain tube and pulls it apart spilling wort all over the place. I grab a big grain bag and have to strain my first run off through it rather than my stainless braid.....I get the braid back together and finish the batch. When I put the beer in the carboy, I have 6 gallons of beer rather than 5.5 gallons due to keping the boil down trying to end up with 5.5 gallons since I missed my preboil volume.

when I drained the wort into the carboy I have NEVER seen so much break material and sludge in a beer. I even ran it through a grain bag as I was filling the carboy. I missed my OG by 4 points but got an extra half gallon.

Here it is almost 7:30 and I am JUST getting cleaned up.

Momma said there'd be days like this ;) Seems like silly stuff like this happens when you have an audience.
Most of that debris will settle out in the primary so no worries.

My brew day today wasn't quite as bad as yours. The computer I have BeerSmith on is dead at the moment, so I had to kind of wing the numbers. I was closing the pool at the same time I was brewing, so that kept me busy too. My OG is a good bit low. Oh well, it'll still be beer! :mug:
