I do all grain. I just made a 5 gallon batch of stout. I just tried it and it seems a bit watered down. What would the proper process be to get a full 5 gallons out of a batch. I ended up with 4 gallons and just added 1 gallon of water to fermenter. I think thats my problem. Any suggestions on how to get a full 5 gallons without adding water in the end.
 
Sparge with more water. Depending on your boil off rate, you should get around 7 gallons wort into your kettle before boiling.
 
I agree with the above post however did you take original gravity and final gravity readings? I am curious to know what they were. It's possible that A low final gravity is contributing to a thin mouthfeel and therefore a watery beer.
