Just want to give you props on your sketchup skills. That app drives me batty and you seem to be a master at it!

You're doing a great job on your bar. Looking forward to more updates!

Thank you very much for the props! I actually hated it when i first started using it because it was so much different than Auto Cad. Then once I dumbed myself down a bit and relaxed with it, it became very easy to use... You will have no problem using it once you start using it every couple days.

What are the dimensions of your bar.

It looks shorter than standard bar height (it is shown as the same height as your table),

Also, you could gain some more real estate by making it narrower. your bar appears to be the same width as the door (36 inches i presume?). A 24" wide bar would be more than sufficient.

Also, I might consider recessed lighting to maximize head room.

Acid stain is an option for the floor as well:

SJlammer:
I don't believe I drew the bar to specs on the height... however the width is spot on for the chest freezer and the bar top...

I am actually going to put in recessed lighting after considering it with my fatehr and brother... of course this comes after I already bought the fixtures lol...

Ohio:

I was told that Acid staining could not be done on a previously painted floor as it takes on the characteristics of the concrete that it is soaking into. I would have to strip the floors and then stain it... I like the way it looks, just too much work to get that kind of thing done...

STATUS UPDATE
As of right now i went ahead and hung the moisture barrier behind the studs... what a PITA after i did the framing... oh well... precautions are a good thing right?

Drilled the holes in the studs for the wiring to go through and hung the boxes for the light switches.

I don't have a definite location on the outlets yet or have the wiring run (I havnt purchased it yet, but tonight I plan on going to home depot after my Soccer practice and returning the lights and picking up some recessed lights, wiring, and the trim kits for the lights...

Slowly but surely its coming together... I figure on Saturday I'll move the bar and chest freezer out of the building area, out of the way of things to get stuff done easier in there...

Its nice ^^^ however I don't think it will work for me in the best sense... I really need to get some of the hard stuff out of the way like boxing in the center joist and boxing in the two columns that will be showing...

Wow sorry that I did not post up in a while... I've been swamped with work, soccer, and my brother's wedding which happens to be tomorrow...

Any how this is what I did so far... Put up the hangars/joists for the boxing in of the main joist... ran my wires and wired up a few lights.

Last night i Committed myself to where I will locate the bar and placed recessed lights in their designated areas... 4 on the bar area and 2 in the open area... If I need more I will go ahead and get them, however I do not anticipate needing them...

I also determined that I will run two sets of switches in the bar to control the lights... One for the open area lights and one for the Bar area lights...

Also I went ahead and stretched some lines for an auxilary hook up line for my computer that will be integrated into the bar for the ultimate in control of music and video, which will be run through the existing amp and projector.

Also I ran all of the speaker wires to their proper locations and put up the moisture barrier...

All thats left to do is:

1.) Hook up the electrical to the panel
2.) remove all the crap to go to the dump
3.)Box in the pillars and stain the wood
4.) Insulate and sheet rock the walls
5.) Sheetrock the ceiling
6.) Triming
7.) Epoxy flooring covering
7.) Paint

Pictures will come soon.

Again sorry for the delay in posting... Like I said before... Im really busy.

Well an Update... All of the lighting has been wired up and switches put in...

Still need to relocate a light into the storage area and put in a outlet for the chest freezer but things are really coming along...

Going to put in one directional halo lamp in the dead corner for the "Dartboard arena" and then after that... I can start sheet rocking.

Pictures of the lighting coming tonight...

As you can see I have a ton of taping to do and the existing walls on the right were a bitch to get sheet rock up on thanks to my brother not understanding the concept of 16 on center... Oh well...

I was happy how the one column post came out on the right and the poplar, although thin, was pretty easy to work with...

Still need to get some a lot of stuff done.

1. Ceiling (need help with that)
2. Panel where the cabinets are needs to be re -sheet rocked
3. Over the door needs some sheet rock
4. Floor Moulding needs to be put in.
5. Floor needs to be painted
6. Taped and sand the walls and ceilings.
7. Paint walls.
8. Throw party...

This saturday I'll be brewing however I think during my class in the morning (online) I'll be taping the walls.

Next weekend I'll be more than likely throwing up the ceiling so then after that it shouldnt be long till this place is up and opperational!

Here's an update... Obviously I havnt been posting anything lately... Been busy with school and what not but here are the new things that got done...

Looking good! I was looking at the last few pictures and was thinking "a pool table would look great there" and bam! Well done!

Yea the actual pool table resides about 50 feet away in its own designated area... In there will be my kegerator, Bar top, Dart board, and hopefully a wine rack

Cool man. I was going to point out that I thought you had the closet doors upside down, but it looks like you fixed them.

Yea actually funny story on that... I have a low ceiling in my basement and when I had to go and trim the closet doors, the bottom and tops are only so thick, as they are just cores basically...

I cut off too much and was not able to mount them without breaking the crappy fiberwood that was in the core... I fixed this by stapling on paint stirrers to the bottom of the door to increase the thickness and now voilla! I have doors that are not Upside down lol

Well Here are the semi Finished pictures: Still need to do some painting and trim work but all in all its done and has hosted its first party or two... or three....

wow man thats looks awesome, congrats. That is my dream someday. Did you have much experience with construction or just a DIY'er?

My experience with DIY work is just that i do whatever I feel like to keep me busy... I have some construction experience, nothing serious... Just worked for a general and commercial construction company... Still I learn as I go...

I am also about to start my next project... Electric brewery and brew room... upstairs... Yay! Soon to be posted...

Franzia?!?!

*throws up in own mouth*

Heheh its "The world's most popular wine"

Sometimes, all people really want is some box wine... who am I to deny them that?! lol

To be honest I'm not a huge wine drinker, although my father is so he likes to have his wines and then stuff he serves at parties... obviously thats what the boxed wine is for.

The corked stuff is my home made wine... Its a Shiraz still needs about 3 more months till i can drink it :(

Actually, boxed wine gets a bad rap - some of it's not bad at all. Franzia, tho...

Wasn't a wine drinker either until I moved to Northern California. This place is a liver's worst enemy, living a half hour from some of the best wineries on the planet, as well as Russian River, Bear Republic, Lagunitas, Iron Springs, Toronado... and then there's my own stuff downstairs.

I tellya, it's a wonder I'm sober!

Awesome build. Where the tap handles come out of (not sure what you call it?) looks slick. Much more pro looking then the wooden box version in the previous photos.

Also alot of the before pics seem to be bad links?? Maybe it's me....

I think its because I have resized them and did not directly replaced... I'll have to see if I can edit the old posts...
