In case you haven't heard of this yet, here's the skinny.

1. Go to live.com and search for the item you want to buy. I put in XBox 360.

2. Click the Ebay link at the top that says "You may be eligible for 30% cash back!"

3. You will go to Ebay. Find the item you want.

4. Use Buy-it-now to purchase it. You will see your cashback amount on the next page. Mine said "$119.70".

5. If you have any coupon codes, you can still use them! I had a 10% Paypal fall coupon, giving me another $39.90 off.

6. Check out through Paypal as normal.

7. You'll have a message in Ebay's My Messages shortly. Click the link in there to go to your cashback account / sign up for a new cashback account.

8. MS will transfer the 30% into your Paypal account within 60 days.

I just bought a $399 XBox 360 Elite bundle. $119.70 cashback, $39.90 from the coupon, and the thing cost me $239.40. Awesome :)

Buy 2 so when the first one "red rings" you can still play :D:D:D
The one I got is the latest model with the "Falcon" chipset which allegedly addresses overheating issues. Not sure if that's what you mean by "red ring" or not.

I don't see that link...
Sorry, I forgot to mention. The link doesn't show up on Ebay for me in FireFox. I had to switch to IE. I do see the live.com link though.

Know what? A picture is worth more than my typing. Here's the link from live.com:

And of course Ebay is broken at the moment, but this is the logo you're looking for:

When you click your item you'll see that logo at the top. When you press "Buy it Now", you'll see the actual cashback amount on that page.

Good luck :)

Ok guys, here you go. Ebay woke up.

Notice the cashback logo at the top of each page.

Yes, that's $100.50 cashback!

Have fun and try not to get caught by S/HWMBO :)

I got my confirmation email this morning! I followed the link to my Cashback account and this is what I see:

Code:
Pending cashback:
Purchase date Amount Available date Details
Oct 16, 2008 $119.70 Dec 15, 2008
                         (59 days left) eBay

They hold the cash for 60 days then drop it in your Paypal. Time to buy more stuff!

-Joe

Did they charge the full amount to your Paypal and then in 60 days you get the credit? Sorry, I'm just always leery of deals this good.
Yes, that's exactly how it works.

I was leery too, so I waited for some folks I know to get their money first :) A bunch of guys on my Woodworking forum have been buying large pieces of machinery and have gotten their money.

If you can wait 60 days I'll post my results, but who knows how long the program will last?

Cool! Glad to hear people got their money. I suppose it's MS's way of strengthening the economy. :mug:
