Hey fellas

I've determined that my malt muncher motor uses a 12mm shaft and my MM grain crusher uses a 1/2in shaft. I am having all kinds of trouble finding a coupling though that will adapt US to metric.

I've seen a few other people with this build. Can anyone share their specs or source for buying the coupling? I tried Lovejoy's site but their nomenclature's completely thrown me off. I just am looking for what exactly I need to buy

Thanks in advance!

Lovejoy urethane L050 series couplers are popular with mills but they're only rated to 39 inch-pounds of torque, which is pretty low for a gear motor.
I wouldn't go lighter than an L070 series which tops out at 65 inch-pounds. If your motor is rated higher than that, the next step is the L075 series at 135 inch-pounds. (Reference Chart 3 on page 21 of the catalog linked above).

These parts assume no keyways on either shaft end (reference pages 23 and 24 for imperial and metric, respectively):

For your 12mm bore you would use L050-48510, or L070-51562
For your 1/2" bore you would use L050-10210, or L070-10420.

Cheers!

Whoops, I forgot to include the spider. If you look at the L Type Spider UPC Number Selection Table on Page 22, you will find the various types and sizes. Most folks go with the standard "SOX (NBR)" spider, so UPC 685144-10194 for L050 jaws or 685144-10406 for L070...

Cheers!
