Mold or yeast?

So these dark spots are in my new batch. They seem to be brown. Can't be sure if they are fuzzy or not. Looks like they could be at a microscopic level. Definitely to the unaided eye they are not shiny, but more dull & dry.

That looks suspicious enough that I'd consider scrapping that batch. Hopefully you have some KT or another SCOBY to start right up again.

I'd let it go and see what happens. I had what I thought was a bad batch when I first started getting my mother going. It turned into a normal looking scoby.
