Well, just fired up the fryer (outside) for my first FB. (More details to come)
But I just realized that I managed to boil a dead leaf that blew off of the neighbors tree. Yay me.

Nothing serious, just wanted to share that...
More to post as soon as this is in the primary.

You think thats bad? During my last FB I decided to fill from my tub as it is faster for 6.5 gallons than my sink. Was just about to pour into my pot when I saw a little fish thingy swimming around in the water. I quickly poured off and topped up with the sink instead which has several screens.

I have well water so I guess my filter isn't working as well as it used to haha.

HOLY CRAP DUDE! If you have fish-thingies coming out of your tap, it is definitely time to switch bottled water!

I have the same thing from all the trees on my property. This is what I use to keep them (and bees) out of my boil kettle.

It's a pizza screen from Ace Mart Restaurant supply.

We need to know what kind of tree the leaf was from. If it comes out good, some of us might want to try it. :D

I think it was just like a little baby salamander or something. Like I said we have a well here and since it stormed the other day sometimes the WT gets stirred a bit. It's not a huge deal. Every now and then a little thing squeezes through the filter. The neighbors share a well with us and get the same results. Our water quality is very good though. very drinkable and tasty yet a bit on the harder side than normal. We test it regularly.

For brewing it should be pretty solid for several varieties of ales but some brews I will have to go with bottled because the hardness here would be too high. Since it's boiled it's not terrible if you get a little leaf or something in it. It will be sterilized and drop out.
