first time all grain brewing with 10 Gallon Rubbermaid container (ss false bottom) Was shooting for 1.050 but ended up with 1.046, (however temp was around 80 Degrees Farenheitnot sure if that effects the SG....)
ended up with FG of 1.006...Beer tastes a little dilute. Am now dry hoping and wondering if the flavors (Pale Ale) will come out over time in Keg????
Please Help!

The temp will affect your gravity reading. Should correct to around 1.048 by my reckoning. 1.006 is really dry. What yeast did you use? Your dilute taste is probably a combination of the dry finish and the fact that your beer isn't carbed. Carbonation will do a lot for flavor and mouthfeel, so it's too early to accurately judge what it will taste like.

Oh, and 4 points (really only 2) off doing AG is pretty decent, especially for a first try. You're in great shape and have nothing to worry about. Should be a nice dry PA.

If you only missed by 0.004 then you did a ton better then my first ag, or second or third honestly. I bet she turns out delicious once carbed.

Edit. Didn't notice the 80*, so that would make a pretty big adjustment you're in great shape.

I used Nottingham Yeast, Pitched Dry.

Yeah i didnt let the Immerison Chiller sit longer cause it started raining outside....got a lil nervous about it so i brought the kettle inside and decided to let it sit for a while.... Got anxious and decided to transfer to Carboy, only to find out it was 80 degrees! Im keeping my fingers crossed.... Kegging it tomorrow!

I'm still in the process of building a mill (I'm a huge diy guy and love this hobby because of all the cool stuff to build) so all my grains come from the lhbs milled and I get around 65% efficiency. Never had a batch taste watered down or strange because of that. Just do a few more and figure what your efficiency is and adjust the recipe to get where you want.

Cheers on the first ag and many more.

If I was only off by 2 points, consistenly across multiple batches, I would consider my efficiency dialed in. It remains to be seen whether this is a repeatable process. But you have nothing to worry about this time around.
