Millet Beer?!

I was chatting with some friends (the nerdy ones) about brewing and one of them mentioned some documentary that said some African tribes made beer from millet grains. Anyone ever heard of something like that? I imagine you can make beer from any grain, hell, from anything that gives off sugars I guess.

Haven't run across millet beer (google "millet brewing" for the video), but I've seen recipes for gluten-free beers that use it.
