So I was thinking of getting this last time it came around but it sold out too fast. Any thoughts on whether or not it's worth it?

I personally don't think so, simply because you can build the 2-stage aquarium controller for less than $40, and buy the heater and thermowell stopper for $54. Same price in the end, but if you DIY you get a controller that does not need to be flipped between "cool" and "heat" modes. it will automatically turn on whatever it needs.
