Michael Moore is a dick??

Went to buy tickets for the Traverse City Winter Microbrews and Music Festival 2012 today and found THIS on their website. I had no idea there was event drama going on behind the scenes.

I've never watched a MM film, documentary, what have you, and pretty sure after his childlike, petulant fit I probably never will.

I'll let you read the personal comments from the neutral party, and the link they provide to Mr. Moore's letter, but I must come forward and state that having gone to a few microbrew festivals, and a couple put on by Porterhouse Productions in TC, I can say that I've never experienced anything except genuine courtesy, goodwill, and love from any of the participants (yes, a FEW were in a state of intoxication )

Bottom line: Even after Porterhouse Productions decided to move the TCWMMF to a location away from downtown, MM canceled his comedy festival citing PP's refusal to reschedule. (PP has had the winter beer festival on the same date every year since they started, and would have moved this year if the Superbowl wasn't on the only other viable weekend and we all know everyone in Michigan will be watching the LIONS that day.)

"We made it clear that we could not do the comedy fest on the same days in the same location as a beer fest for two reasons:

1. It made no sense to schedule two festivals downtown on the same weekend ... (blah blah blah)

2. We did not want to deal with all of the problems that might come along with a few thousand people who have been drinking in downtown TC.

Quoting his letter: "could not" ?

With regard to his statement ...
so Moore's comedy festival will not allow any drinking? ... nu??
Or maybe it's "anyone who has been drinking" ? Now there's an interesting fatwā.
Uh, has he told other sellers of alcohol that the sale or consumption will not be allowed during the event?
His opposition is on ... what grounds? ... moral? ... religious? ... monetary? (hmmm.)
Or has Mullah Moore given permission for other establishments to provide the drink to pilgrims, but not given permission to the infidel Microbrews Festival?

I hate to even add to this thread because that would somehow bring attention just the slightest bit more attention to this guy... I have no political affiliations, agenda, or even personal thoughts on politics. so don't take this as I'm siding with one political group or another.

I don't know him personally obviously but something about him just bugs the crap out of me. Maybe because he reminds me of John Stewart who just makes a career off of ripping other people and tearing them down. Something about that seems a bit wrong to me.

In any case, it would have been a great idea I think to have them at the sametime as long as they were in the same place. it would be like one big party i would think
