While you can't easily use a refrigerator as a smoker due to the plastic content ... you can convert it to a curing chamber for meat.

I'd been considering this project for a couple months, but just recently gave someone the refrigerator I was going to use ... anyhow, here's the info ...

The following link has instructions and wiring diagrams ... I had to go to the Wayback Machine to get them, so be aware their servers can sometimes be fickle.

(fwiw - If the original website becomes available again, it would be at ...

Here is a youtube video of a similar project. The guy in the video actually references the website noted above.
Also, he has three videos total on his youtube site relating to the project - so check the other videos from his list at youtube ...

Here are a couple more vids on doing something quite similar on youtube ...

I guess my only concern would be the original condition of the fridge. With this hobby I've acquired quite a few used fridges over the years and without exception....when they were warm, they stunk and had mold problems. You can't get to everywhere and clean. Were you planning on getting a brand new one? Is the potential of mold behind the plastics and in the ducts of the fridge a concern for you? Maybe this is already figured out and I'm just missing it. Just curious.

The one I had was clean but used. A friend needed a fridge tho so I gave it to him.

When and if I get another one for such a project it will be another similar one.

When you say "with this hobby" you've acquired a few refrigerators over the years, are you saying that you have had refrigerators converted to be used for meat curing?

If so, was your setup similar to the ones in my opening post?

Thanx.

Thanx.

Oh no, I meant brewing. Interested in the meat curing thing. To be clear, I'm not criticizing at all, just trying to learn.
