Ive actually posted a question about a 1 gallon batch of mead I made yesterday. I forgot about the 24 hour waiting period for a campden tab and added my yeast (k-v1116) in straight away...now its just sitting there today. Im sure I killed it off...Im trying to get some advice on how to restart it.
You should be able to pitch some more yeast. I personally have never used campden tablets for anything. You shouldn't really need it for a straight (no fruit) mead IMHO.Hopefully you have another packet of yeast or can get one shortly. Keep it sealed up until you get some more yeast and you should be fine, the campden will have taken care of any other "beasties" that may have been there, providing you practice good sanitation.
Cheers,
Thanks Dragon! Yeah, Im real big on keeping all my gear sano. Im happy to say it is now beginning to bubble! I think I dodged a bullet and wont be using any more campden unless im making a Melomel....
Yeah, the selection of commercial meads here in the quads suck as you prolly know. Ive looked into getting some selections from overseas so in the mean time...Ive got time for new hobby and what better than home brewing my own Mead?
