Hi, I'm looking to buy the two McMaster Carr parts (p/n 45605K711 & p/n 4335T64).

I tried to order it new from McMaster Carr today but they cancelled the order stating some ridiculous reason that they can only ship to businesses due to the nature of the products. Makes no sense since they are just stainless steel fittings.

So what I'm hoping is that someone has the set used and doesn't exactly need it anymore and is willing to sell. OR someone with a business is willing to purchase them and ship them to me.

Please contact me if you are willing to help me out. I have 3 kegs I just picked up that I need to solder fittings on to.

Thanks,
Guido

Thanks!

I place my order.

I'm not impressed with Mcmaster Carr at all. No reasoning given as to why they only sell to businesses.

Shortly after placing the order I got an email.

"Due to the complexity of U.S. export regulations, McMaster-Carr accepts international orders only from businesses. This decision also applies to orders shipping within the United States, because it is based on the final destination of the items. We cannot accept this order or future orders."

I asked why this was an issue for stainless fittings, as I've ordered stainless fittings from other companies in the US without any problems in the past and got the following response..

"Hi,
We are sorry for the confusion. it does not have anything to do with the product you ordered, rather, we only accept orders from businesses."

I sent a response to that with a few more questions but they have stopped responding to me.

Most companies I know of are in business to make money or to help people. In this instance, McMaster-Carr is failing at both.

They aren't failing. They made a business decision that the tiny amount of orders they might get from overseas private purchasers aren't worth all the hoops they have to jump through. They gave you an explanation of why they don't want to do business with you, you just didn't like it.

Exactly. The amount of paperwork that is required to ship something even as simple as a stainless steel fitting costs real dollars... human time required to generate, print, sign, and pack the proforma invoices for customs adds up, especially for small dollar items. God forbid that something gets hung up in customs, that costs even more time/money as they have to respond in writing to the inquiries. So in the end, they could actually lose money on an order like that.
