I take it you like it? I've read a lot about the Lagunitas beers, but haven't seen them here yet. Apparently the came to the brew fest last year, so I'm hoping they're at the Raleigh one in a few weeks. I really want to try their cappuccino stout.

Check this out Beeg, I found that Maximus in, you guessed it, Grande Prairie! I agree with El P, it's awesome. Total ass-kicker!
 I'm sitting down here with them in the lower 48 and they're shipping it up to the tundra but not to me! I mean, you guys have got Molson and Labatts!

Yeah, I love it, but since I've just recently fallen in love with IPAs, right now I'm pretty much in love with all of them.

Lagunitas is good...I've haven't tried their IPA yet (Maximus is an IIPA), but the Imperial Stout and Cappuccino Stout are incredible, and I think this Maximus could easily become my favorite beer. It's hard to believe that 3-4 months ago any kind of PA tasted like swill to me...this hobby can sure change one's tastes.

Probably true, but it wasn't up to me! Not sure I could take the winters anymore...too nice being able to brew outdoors year round. :cross:
:off:
But then again what about brewing in the basement?

Right now I do all my brews in the house, but I'll be going all-grain this summer and that will be more difficult to bring inside. I have a garage though...

Yeah: I'm going AG soon and plan to brew in the garage. Too much sunlight and too f-ing hot (half the year, anyway) out in the open.

I lOve there beers, try the dog town pale ale...its a less balsey, over the top IPA then there actaull IPA...but i like it better, its more like anchor liberty, kind of a stepping stone beer: bigger then a pale ale yet not soo big as to knock your panties off with one pint.

Maybe you can connect your mashtun to your block heater and invent a whole new method of homebrewing!

Well, Baron Smarty-pants, I think a block-heater would probably work pretty well actually. Hmmm... <The Chairman strokes his chin and nods seven times gently while turning his head slowly to the right - the international sign for 'interesting'>

What's a block heater anyway...a great big heater that takes care of the whole neighborhood?

Bend over and I'll show ya!

:D

You can use that for the answer to any question, try it, it's loads of fun. If you really don't know, it's an electric element which keeps our cars from freezing into solid chuncks of metal during the winter by keeping the coolant heated in the engine block.

#1 Where IS ElP?

#2 Yeah old thread, but there's a reason.

#3 The reason. Had both the Maximus, and the Imperial Stout this evening. ABV is interesting... 7.5 on Maximus, 8.2 on the Imperial Stout. My palate is still apparently Anti-IPA though, I hated the Maximus. (It was my weekly "I'm going to try another one to see if I like it again" IPA.) The Imperial Stout was ok. Seems like it's more of a porter tho except more hoppy and not a lot of malt backbone.

If I have a stout, I'd like a fork please.

Did I mention the ABV tho? :D :drunk:

We had teh cappuccino stout recently. It was pretty good, but it had a lot less coffee flavor than I expected. It was really somewhat hard to believe it had coffee in it. But other than not being what I expected, it was still a good stout, although I'd take a Bell's Stout over it still :)

*oooh old thread...*

Everytime I see a "new post" with El P's name, I get optimistic that he's joined us...

Alas...

I don't even know the man, I just know his legend. El P, if you lurk, SHOW YOUR FACE!

Try a gateway IPA I really like Samuel Smith's India Ale. Alternatively you could make a night of it and work your way up to the IPA drink a SNPA then a SNCA and then try the regular Lagunitas IPA instead of the Maximus.

His daily post count I believe exceeded even yours Bird. 'twas quite amazing that he got any work done at all.
