Hey all,

So I was thinking of trying to clone Mikkellers Beer Geek Vanilla Shake.
For those of you who haven't tried it, it's an oatmeal stout with coffee and vanilla. Apparently the brewery who were supposed to make it originally, added 100 times too much vanilla, as the recipe stated.

Now, I have the original Beer Geek Breakfast recipe, so that's a good place to start.
However, the Vanilla Shake is a very thick and creamy stout with a s*itload of vanilla in it. The question is how much?
I brewed an imperial stout a month or so ago and I only used 2 vanilla beans soaked in rum.
Do any of you have ny idea how much vanilla is too much?

For this recipe I think I'll need like 10 vanilla beansat least, but should they get the same treatment as usual? Soaking them in alcohol for a week or so?

To max out on vanilla, I'd start with at least five beans and look into adding some quality extract at bottling too. The vanilla flavor may be a bit strong at first, but it'll smooth out with conditioning and won't completely disappear after a couple months.
