Does this math sound right?

IO Star requires 1 oz to 5 gallon
I only need enough for a 16 oz spray bottle.

5 gallon = 1 oz
1 gallon = .2 oz
16 oz = .0266 oz which equals about .76 ml or 15 drops from an eye dropper.

I guess I could just do a 1/2 gallon mason jar and use as needed, buts that's too easy.

5 gallons is 640 oz.

16 oz / 640 oz = 0.025

0.025 x 1 oz = 0.025 oz = 0.74 mL

..So you were close.

It would be best to calibrate the eye dropper by seeing how many drops to fill a known volume (e.g. 5-10 mL)

5 gal * 128oz/gal = 640 oz
1oz/640oz = .0015625oz * 16oz = .025oz of star san for 16oz of distilled water.

Actually, I just eyeball it until it looks about right! Now that you made me do the math it has been about right! woohoo!:)

I see where I messed up. I must of fat fingered the calculator, 128/16 gave me 7.5 somehow, should have been 8.
1 / 5 = .2
.2 / 8 = .025

I think that is where I messed up. Time for more coffee.

5 gal * 128oz/gal = 640 oz
1oz/640oz = .0015625oz * 16oz = .025oz of star san for 16oz of distilled water.

Yup, i usually just do a heaping 1/8th tsp(.021oz) that drips the extra's into the bottle for Starsan that gets you the .025oz you need. Or if you dont care just use a 1/4th tsp and call it good, it will just be a bit strong.

I'm using io which will stain if I use too much. I definitely don't want too little.
