I was glad to learn that the suburbs of Boston have a selection of LHBSs to browse, including one that is all of 200 yards off my travel path to work (this could get expensive!)
Beginning very simply, with a basic equipment kit and a beer-in-a-box kit from my LHBS, but I'm the "anything worth doing is worth overdoing" type so I'm already on the upgrade path. :ban:

First on the list is a temp controlled freezer for fermentation, and an upgrade kettle and counterflow chiller.

Cheers! :mug:

Welcome to the hobby and the forum! Sounds like you will be watching lager yeast swimming around in no time!

US-05 has already chewed thru my first batch, a Sam Summer clone from the LHBS.
And, yes, I'm very interested in lager options!

Welcome from Framingham.
We do indeed have a lot of HBS', and most that I've been to are pretty good with advice. I normally use Strange Brew in Marlboro, but the Homebrew Emporiums are good also, along with BrewMonster in Plymouth.
