If you can't tell I'm new to homebrewing. I'm still waiting for xmas so my very nice wife will give me my kit so I can start brewing.
Anyway, I downloaded the BeerSmith trial software and was looking through the all grain ingredients.
The instructions say
Step Mash In - 45 Min
Step Mash Out - 10 Min
What exactly does Mash In and Mash Out mean?
I've watched a bunch of video's on YouTube about all grain brewing so I know the whole process. Is Mash In where you put the water in with the grains and let them sit for a while and then Mash Out where you use the sparge water to get the rest of the sugars out of the grain?
If so do you Mash In for 45 Min then start taking the wort out and then add the Mash out for 10 Min then take that wort out?
