I searched the forum and couldn't find an answer to this.
I am brewing an Imperial Janet's Brown today and need a little help. The recipe calls for a mash hop with pellets. I batch sparge and my mash tun is a cooler with a stainless braid. I am a little concerned that the hop gunk will clog up the braid. I've never had a stuck sparge, but don't want to experience one today.
The recipe calls for 1.5 oz Northern Brewer in the mash. I don't have NB, so I will sub something else. If I pick a higher alpha alcid hop, I will probably have about .75 oz.
Anyone have experience with this? Should I put them in a hop sack?
