Anyone ever use Maple Sap (not syrup) as the basic liquid? I am familiar with the characteristics of sap (very weak to no flavor)
 
Maple sap is about 2% sugar or ~3.5 oz per gallon. The fermentables contribution is low but as posted above it contributes a nice, slightly "woodsy" flavor. Works well in a porter.
