This morning with breakfast I had some President's Choice mango juice (mango puree, orange juice - no preservatives at all) and wondered about a mango beer. Anyone tried the PC mango juice in a brew yet? If so, how much did you use? I am thinking of brewing a pale ale with the addition of a litre or two... at flame-out? in a secondary? Ideas???

Thanks

I had some mango juice yesterday, and it got me thinking about doing a mango beer as well. I'm currently deployed right now, but when I get back in the summer, I'
m gonna do a small batch of pale ale and hefe both with mangos.

Mango beer has been on my list of beers to try brewing for a while. I might try it this winter :). In fact I was re-reading Designing Great Beers (Daniels) re fruit beers just the other day. He lumps mango in with "mild fruits" saying that their flavor will be difficult to assert in a strongly flavored beer, and so recommends pale, light beers as the base, which is what I'd tend to use for tropical fruit anyway. Although "mango stout" has such an unusual ring to it, maybe it's worth a shot!

I've decided to make a wheat beer to which I will add a carton of this juice in the secondary.
