I have been working on finishing my basement for about two and a half years now (yes, procrastinated quite a bit). Carpeting just went down a week ago and today, one of the last touches, a 60" Sony SXRD, went in. Gotta get an HD cable box before the Packer game, then sit down with some cold ones. Woohoo!!!:ban:

Oh, it is not picture worthy yet. A true man cave - just a TV and no furniture. Nothing like laying on the floor with a beer and a Packer victory in glorious HD.

It is ready for the Sunday games now. I've have an old kitchen chair down there now.

The only thing a man cave needs is a place for the man (and his four-legged drinking buddy).

My viewing spot and the 60" Sony - to the right is the back of the basement where the kegs are flowing. Woohoo - beer is only a few feet away!!!

The spot where the photo is taken is where the bar will go.

The view from my chair.

Furniture comes Friday, then the place will be mostly done - a few years of hard work and three years total counting the deck I built and the brick path from the road to the backyard. I did it all myself other than the drywall mud and the carpeting in the basement. Gotta hold off on the bar for a bit - I got the news on the Thursday before Christmas that along with half of my company, I am losing my job on March 31. Gives me plenty of time to find something new and if it happens without much of a gap in between, then I can double dip because of the sweet severance package. The only downside is if I decide I want to stay in my current job and industry, I would have to relocate. Just what I need - a new basement to build.:)

That's a sweet man cave for sure. Well hopefully you can find something in the Cincy area. It'd be a killer if you had to relocate before NHBC.

Nice job on the man cave! Don't worry about finding a new job- they make 'em every day. If a drunken slob like me can find work after being laid off, anyone can.:rockin:

Here's wishing you good luck on the employment search! You can't leave Cinci till after the HBT Pre-NHC party in it. :D

Very nice space you have there. The water table is way too high in MS for basements, but I wish I had one!

:D

On a different note, I do have an unfinished 675 sq ft upstairs area that I'll be finishing within the next year. Can you say home theater/bar?

:cross:

Thanks for the sentiments on the job situation. For now, I am not too worried on the job search. Yea, the economy isn't the greatest to be looking, but I think I should be able to find something - SWMBO is much more confident than I am. My only issue is I am one of those jack of all trades, master of none (or maybe few) kind of people. To me, it seems easier to find something if you can say you are an expert in Z instead of saying you know some stuff about A through J. I have always been that way - it took me 6 majors and 16 semesters off and on over 18 years to get my undergrad, eventually in Industrial Engineering, then I never did any engineering in the job market. I was a supply chain analyst for 5 years, then I got an MBA with emphasis in operations which led, of course, to a new position as a market research analyst for 3 years, once again not utilizing my education.

Worst case, I am stuck at home living off my severance package and stock options while watching a nice TV and drinking homebrew. Life could be worse - I could still be in the Army Reserves and be an old, tubby soldier that gets called up to go to the sandbox to get shot at while I sweat my arse off.

BTW - if I am still in Cincy (which is likely), a gathering could be arranged here at Club Bearcat. The only issue is that I am almost on the opposite site of town from the conference - a good 25 miles away. Not a homebrew-friendly distance - may have to draw straws for DD.:(
