I followed that for a while now, the european barley crop for 2006 looks very slim and as a result the pirces for malt are rising. If you need to buy German malts, you should do that soon. I'm not sure how long it takes until the american market is affected.

It even went't even so far that Bittburger openly spoke about abandoning the RHG by using rice or corn in order to keep the beer prices low. But they quickly back-paddled from that statement once it hit the news and they feared loss of market share due to the bad publicity.
