Malt bill advice for a "golden" IPA?

Hi!

My standard malt bill for an IPA is something like

90% 2-row
5% wheat or Vienna
5% Crystal 20

I like a super-clean neutral malt bill to showcase the hops, but this time I'd like to get less of the "muddy" color I seem to with the above, and get closer to the color of one of my favorites, Knee Deep Lupulin River ("looks like liquid gold").

Any thoughts on how to get this? I'm not a big fan of Maris Otter, at least in my APA/IPAs, but have never tried golden promise. A lighter crystal maybe?

Have you tried extra pale Maris Otter? It's MO kilned like 2-row or paler. Another thing you can use is stuff like UK lager malt, which is less grainy than pilsner but less malty than regular pale ale malt. To be fair, for something pale I'd go 100% pale malt, with maybe half and half of MO (or GP) and lager malt (or US 2-row).

Crisp make their extra pale to 2.5, sometimes it's described as 'low colour Maris Otter' as well

More Vienna. It has a nice golden colour to it.
