I have been brewing for two years, and my daughter is also two. Don't worry I haven't had any accidents with her, but it's certainly not been thanks to my cautiousness. I see we have stickies about fermentation, how-tos, and other items.

I propose we put together a safety announcement thread. I've been burned brewing, and have had some touch-and-go moments.

My first piece of advice is to not let extract pool at the bottom of the brew pot. Somehow with the heat, pressure can build up under there and when it roars to a boil it's almost impossible to prevent a boil over.

I personally find brewing "safety" pretty common sense. If you have cooked something in a kitchen and used a gas grill you should be good to go.

If you haven't then you need to learn the hard way......

"Glass is sharp"
"Propane can explode"
"Boiling water is hot"
"Don't put babies in the mash tun"

Seriously? Common sense ya'll!

Dogs can stick their nose in any bucket without warning. keep things covered.

p.s. Dogs get hyperthermic (over heat) if they eat hops.
