Anyone know of a business where you can go to and make your own beer - and recipe - there ? And avoid the '...dad is making beer again and it smells like 3hit ...'. Sorta like an American Girl doll for craft beer ? Just curious.....

There are a bunch of them around. You may get more helpful answers if you share where you live.

I dont know where your at but on one of the northern brewer shows they visited one of these places. maybe its because im a little drunk but for the love of all man you gotta learn to give this back as hard as you get it whatever they do as a hobbie find something intrusive about it and drill them non stop. if they are animal lovers remind them often how much those stinking kritters cost to feed/house and how intrusive they are. man im sorry if my grow a pair rant is offensive but men need hobbies and brewing and cars are mine and i cannot afford the cars i want. my wife completely understands my hobbie once i reminded her that her animals cost 10 to 1 my brewing hobbie in fact i never hear anything about it.

I did not. though i can tell you deer are huge fans of hops i had one wreck some fruit trees and eat my hops down to the ground for good measure.

...in Southern California.....

Look for Brewbakers. They have several locations. I have no experience with them, I just know before I got into brewing my wife threw it out as a suggestion for my birthday. I recall it being pretty pricey.

Perhaps you should look into joining a club and finding a brewing partner. I brew with a guy about once every other month. Ideally I brew alone but sometimes people want an experienced brewer there to help them out with certain things. Maybe you can work out something like that.

A neighbor of mine made an IPA at one of those "brew on the premises" places - it honestly wasn't very good, tasted kinda watered down.

I realize this is just an anecdote and doesn't necessarily prove much, but ultimately with such a place you're going to probably pay more money with no guarantee of quality. You're probably better off just finding a buddy or a club so you don't always have to brew at home.

LHBS in my area hosts brew days. Perhaps yours will as well.

However. My family loves the way my beer smells when it is boiling. Guess I'm lucky.

Course now I'm brewing in the garage....

Yes! I like the smell but it drives everyone nuts ...

Speaking of smell has anyone else noticed when you go anywhere near a budwieser brewery it smells like chicken soup? ive been past several of them and it always makes me think that.

Have you thought about getting a burner and brewing outside? You can get a Darkstar burner for $50. At least that way the smell wouldn't linger in the house. That's what I've been forced to do, but I don't really mind it. It makes chilling quicker in the winter months!

"Smells like sht"????????

Sorry but what part of the process smells like sht?

unless its a sour mash or something i cant see how it would smell like sht.....

Ive heard many times how good it smells when i brew beer.

I love that smell ! Reminds me of Irish brewery tours when I was a kid every time I brew.......
