Holy hops! Is that over a pound of dry hops? That's a ton even for an 11 gallon batch!

You must be left with about 9 gallons after the hops soaked it up!

You sir, are correct! I brewed this with a friend of mine and we split a 10 gallon batch. Ran 2 weeks in the primary and then added the dry hops. Ran 8 more days then transferred to the secondary. Left it in the secondary 14 more days. I usually don't do secondaries but figured it would be a good idea with this big of a beer. My buddy left his on the primary all this time and will rack tomorrow. I did end up with about 4.5 gallons in the keg from my half.

The sample was so good I am going to make a 5 gallon batch of this tomorrow night when I get home from work. I know I'll want more. I caught a buzz from the sample I took to get the FG reading.

Wow! Big grain bill and big hops bill. Looks like a good blend of ingredients, too!

That's also amazing attenuation for such a high gravity beer. What temp did you mash at and what yeast did you use?

I'm gonna give this a shot in about a week. Looks awesome.

However, I have a couple more questions:

1. How did you get such a high attenuation percentage with US-05? I typically get around 70-75%. By my calculations, I would get roughly 9% abv. and not the 10% suggested.

2. I put these hops into my software and received 76.5 IBUs (Tinseth). Should I be using Rager? Even if I convert to Rager, the IBUs are 120+ (Not the 102 specified).

3. Are you adding sugars or something to get the FG down to 1.010? Again, I can't see US-05 going that low without something extra.

4. Even though I know this is probably awesome, how close is it to the real brew?

By the way, I'm not criticizing anything. I'm just a little confused and worried that I may be doing something wrong with my software.

Thanks

When I made my 5 gallon batch of this It came in at the 102 IBU's but "only" 8% ABV due to only 64% efficiency as I tried the "no sparge" mash.

Notes

Efficiency ended up low due to trying the "no sparge" method.

I added all strike and sparge water to the mash, Heated 11 gallons of water to 164* and transferred all to MT.
Stirred and recirculated for 5 minutes. Temp settled at 153*. Target was 154*
Mashed for 40 minutes then stirred mash.
Recirculated another 9 minutes.
Transferred to BK.

Racked to secondary on 02-06-10.

How did this end up tasting? There's quite a bit of difference between a 7.82% beer and a 10.3% (2.5% difference). Was it even close to the Maharaja?

Flysparging a 5 gallon batch for 45-60 minutes.

No sugar additions. Just what the recipe says.

4. Even though I know this is probably awesome, how close is it to the real brew?

I only had one bottle of it that my friend brought me. From what I can remember, it was pretty darn close. Even though my friends are not familiar with the beer either, they all seem to really like it...a lot.

By the way, I'm not criticizing anything. I'm just a little confused and worried that I may be doing something wrong with my software.

No harm! I understand where you are coming from. I don't think you will be disappointed if you like this style of beer.
Thanks

PM me your address and I will TRY and send you one to sample. Then you can let me know. We can't get it here. :mug:

Any more samples of this available? I am just across town! Wow it looks like an explosion of hops.

****, I need to order some bulk hops soon because this looks like it would be awesome. The aroma must be off the charts with all of the dry hopping.

Edit: How is the hop flavor in this beer?
