Made a hard root beer

So I sampled my hard root beer and d it tastes sour. I really messed this one up. What could have been the factors. I followed the Grandpa Willies recipe.

Well as with any "what went wrong?" we as the community need as much detailed information as you can supply. Ingredients, temperatures, time, etc...
