Did a 5 gal. Red Hook ESB clone today and my gravity was off, should have been a 1.52 and I ended up with 1.42, so how bad is this?
I'm guessing that I was sparging too fast as the next 5 gal batch I did everything was spot on and I went slower with the sparging.
Anyhow am I going to have to chuck the batch with the lower gravity?

Certainly don't chuck it. It's going to be 4+% ABV instead of 5+%, and I would expect the bitterness will be more pronounced with the lower OG (what were the original IBU's to be?). Who knows, you may love it.

edit: BTW you mean 1.052 and 1.042 ;)
