Well, a few things happend today that made my list of firsts:

1. Missed my strike temp by 9 degrees. 138 instead of 147
took me 10 min to get it up to 147

2. My manifold came loose from the ball valve in the mash tun

3. Stuck sparge due to manifold coming loose

4. Hot side areation. Well, i dont know yet but it is not easy to put most of the wort back into the mash tun without splashing it around

5. Over estimated what i would need for boil off due to 90 min boil and ended up missing my OG by 6 points. 1.042 as opposed to 1.048\

6. I went to put the Blichmann 14.5 conical in the fridge as i was about to chill the wort and then realized it would not fit without removing the inside of the door. Hello Hammer! LOL, that took 2 min.

But...........there were some good firsts today.

A. I got to use my refractometer that i got for my B-day in February

B. I used my new march pump that i got friday

C. I served my Kolsch to a real German and he approved! (my neighbor Klaus) Although he is from southern Germany and says that northen German Beers are for girls ie. Kolsch and Alt Bier

D. I was offically asked by a few of my friends that Own a brewery to become a partner with them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fu&k YEAH!!!!:ban::mug::ban:

E. oops, i forgot. I am also using my johnson controls 419 temp controller for the first time to do a true lager, a German Pilsner.

I hope you brew days went as................good? ............as mine!

I think that the positives...PARTNER AT A BREWERY...outweigh the negatives.

Heck, next time pre-heat, secure your manifold, use rice hulls, etc but DAMN those are some nice positives! :mug:
