Loss beer

Fermented 5 gallons of beer and ended up with 4 gallons. Only made 45 bottles. Where did the other gallon go?

Well 45 bottles is about 4.25 gal, so appears you lost .75 to trub. That's why many folks calculate for about 5.5 going into the fermenter to get a full 5 gal finished. Also might want to check your volume measurements, if going by bucket markings they can sometimes be off.
