Anyone have a good Honey Ale recipe? I'm looking for an ag, single infusion mash recipe to make a batch for the wife. Due to mash tun size, I'd like to keep the total grain weight under 11lbs or so.

I've seen quite a few honey recipes here, but haven't quite found one that works for my setup.

Any suggestions would be greatly apreciated.

Thanks,
Bill

Here's one I made back at the end of February. When it was racked to the secondary it tasted like grapefruit juice but I tapped the keg last week and it tastes great now. Just a hint of maltiness with a balance of bitterness and hop flavor. My efficiency was off for some reason so my OG was only 1.043. FG was 1.004 and a ABV of 5.12.

Here's a photo of the first glass poured. It is actually quite a bit lighter than looks in the pic.

Would you be able to convert the whole hops to pellets? I'm not sure what the formula is. I'd like to stick with pellets, as I'm not used to brewing with the "whole" version.

Thx

Assuming the same AA percent, you could add about the same or maybe just a tick less than 1/2 oz. for each hop addition.
It was in the primary for 5 days and the secondary for 24 days.

Richbrewer.,...

Do you bottle any of your brews? Like with a counter pressure filler?

I'd really be interested in a swap with you. I'd LOVE to try this Honey Ale you brewed, as well as your IHA.

I have a couple of bottles of LWPA left, I'm getting ready to force carb the Honey Pale, and soon I can get the IHA in a keg. I could also throw in a bottle of the honey wheat I just brewed. I could probably have a swap box put together in a week or two if you want.

Like I said, I'd really be thrilled to try your Honey Ale--a comparison between our recipes would be neat. That pint in the pic looks tasty!

Let me know....

I haven't bottled any of my kegged beer yet but If I can figure out a way to do it I would love to trade some home brew. :mug: Maybe I could over carbonate a bit, lower the pressure to about 3 pounds then gently pour into the bottle. Think that would work?
