Wondering if anyone has had this issue and what steps you took to keep your mead safe.

I'm under contract and will be moving in a few weeks. I have several primary and secondary brews underway and am not in a position to do any bottling.

What steps have you taken to move your brews over distance while not spilling or ruining anything?

i only moved 20 or 30 miles the last time and was able to make several trips, but everything went fine with larger carboys belted/tied in and smaller ones nestled together. towels between everything. driving gently, with sudden starts and stops minimized.

As long as the primaries have dropped the sg into the .999 range, degas them and leave your airlocks in. That should reduce spillage. I have a move coming up and am trying to get everything in bottles but at least 2 carboys are making the trip filled.

Just throwing ideas out..

• If your not traveling cross country, ask family or friends to store them for a month.
  
• If you have an office at work, would they be willing to let you stash some things there or stick them in a closet/ under your desk. If not then I'd look for some milk crates to move them in.
  
• If they're completely degassed, you could replace the bungs with solid and tape them on or get the silicone waterless airlocks. Either would limit the chance of the air lock being knocked off.
  
• If you have kegs, or have friends that brew and keg, transfer to the kegs.
