LME Storage

I know it's a good idea to store LME in the fridge, but does anyone know how long it can stay at room temp before you're going to get off flavors? A couple weeks?

If it comes in the can I'm guessing you're ok at room temp for a long time because I know that stuff sits on HBS shelves for a while. If its the kind in the plastic milk jugs I think its more important to get it in the fridge because the seal isn't as good, but I still think it can keep for a week or so out of the fridge (not sure just guessing so if someone has learned the hard way about how long it keeps please chime in.

I've had LME for six months in the garage without a problem.
