I was thinking of buying a kit (and some other supplies) from Northern Brewer before their 10% off sale ends tomorrow. However, I don't have all of my gear together yet which will probably be another couple of weeks before that happens. If I get the liquid WYeast and refrigerate it how long will it last in my fridge? If not long, I'll just get the yeast from my LHBS when the time comes. Thanks!

I've used liquid yeast more than a year old. Make a starter if you're going to do that though. (Actually, make a starter in any case.)

You can use this: http://www.mrmalty.com/calc/calc.html
to figure out how viable the yeast will be at a given age. "Production date" is four months before the date on the package.

Thanks, and if I go with the dry yeast (so no starter is needed) then the shelf life I assume is fairly long?
