Hello everyone,
I'm new to home brewing and very excited. So excited, in fact, that two weeks into fermentation (i.e. today) I decided to pull a sample from my fermentation bucket's spigot and check the beer's gravity. When I did this though, I gently lifted the airlock from the bucket in order to ensure that the beer would flow. Now I'm concerned that I tainted the beer by doing this.
It's my understanding that at this point, the beer has a nice layer of CO2 over it and that the risks were minimal. Am I wrong? Gravity isn't quite there and I want to ensure that I can leave it in the tub for at least the weekend. If it's relevant, the airlock was off the bucket for approx. 10 seconds; on the other hand, the pressure in the bucket seems to have largely dissipated upon replacing it. Any help appreciated...
