LHBS is pretty bad when it comes to selection and I can barely ever find what i need.

The other day I walked in to grab a few cans of Pale LME. They had none on the shelf so I asked one of the clerks if they had any in the back.

The guy walks over to the refrigerator that holds the yeast and hops and starts to look there, scratching his stupid beard.

I was taken aback. One would imagine that if you are working in a homebrew store, you would at least have the most rudimentary knowledge of homebrewing stuff, right? right???

After a moment of letting him look, i say, "it looks like these other big can things. it... wouldnt be there..." I couldn't help but laugh about it--it is pretty funny--but man.

Rochester's homebrew stores really suck which always leads me closer to opening a new one.

You should have popped that foo in his stupid head! I mean really what a stupid maguuch! No.... kidding I think you need to rahahb or whatever.

I'd say it's let's do wine shop, it has some selection mostly extract kits but not worth the drive to transit in any way.

I'm guessing Beers of the World.

We haven't had a decent homebrew shop in the ROC since Cottage Brewing Supply closed over 10 years ago.

meh.

Either Beers of the World, or the hydroponics place. I am planning on going to Niagara traditions, its a bit of a drive, but I really want to be one the the guys that say "So, I went to MY homebrew store..." instead of buying online.

I think it's worth the trip from Albion. I plan on making a stop there when I visit my folks at Christmas.

Guess I am just lucky to have a good LHBS. Yes I prefer buying local being that I work in retail and hate fighting "it's cheaper online" all day long. Yea they are in a warehouse with $8 an hour employees who may or not be documented pulling the orders. When you are paying sometimes thousands of dollars a month in rent and having a vast retail ready inventory. you really are fighting a loosing battle to the internet. I would gladly pay 10% more to support the local guy/gal.

we have a winner! I work close to there so if I need something it's a 10 minute trip rather than heading up to tonawanda, but the selection on the beer side is rather slim. As their name implies they do have a good selection of winemaking supplies though.

yea it was beers of the world. great beer selection. terrible homebrew section.

i've never actually been in lets do wine but i drive by it all the time; swmbo's family lives on GeoUrban. I'll have to check it out. Hey, maybe they'll at least have Pale LME...

Go get a garbage plate and relax

I didn't even know BOTW had homebrew stuff, thought it was just one of the world's best beer stores

i would be pretty pissed if my brew store didn't have helpful staff. i just started brewing, and there's some things that you just aren't going to learn from a brew book.

Yeah, I would as well. Unfortunately, there are no homebrew stores anywhere near where I live. I would love to try to get one going around here, but it's still illegal to homebrew in Alabama, so I doubt that would go over well.

Disclaimer: I totally don't ever ever brew beer. Honest...

Look this guy has been putting up with the Bills loosing every year since the mid nineties when they lost four superbowls. He also puts up with lake effect weather.

lol, i had. I grew up in Livonia. I know what you go through man. Hang in there it will get better, lol.

That sent you into a rage? You might want to remove the stick from your ass. The guy was probably some 8 dollar-an-hour register jockey who doesn't get paid enough to care what the difference between hops, yeast and lme is.

Wow, Livonia. At least my hometown had it's own school. Lol!

Gotta love WNY. So much to look forward to. Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, winter.

i thought the job market was supposed to be REALLY bad right now. that means there should be people beating down the door to get that register position. the owners should be able to find a knowledgeable person, or at least someone who cares enough to learn it.
