I bought a 23 liter wine kit form costco. Comes in a bucket. This is my first wine, though I've made cider and have been brewing beer for years.

The kit is called ONYX and conatins a yeast called "levocell BB". It's a Saccharomyces Bayanus strain.

Can't find anything online about this yeast. Made in the EU (Italy). Package looks like a "name brand" type as far as looking like a marketing dept. had some say on the packaging.

The Wine is a Shiraz kit. Any comments on this yeast? Should I use something else?

It's a well known wine yeast. It's also know as Lalvin EC-1118 and a few other names. It's mostly used for aged reds and champagne. I'd say if it's in date use it.
