I spent the evening doing some general cleanup in my brewery, including sorting through all my grain odds-and-ends. I have this bag that, for the life of me, I can't identify. I order mostly from Atlantic Brew Supply, and I've gone through all my orders over the past year, and I have no idea what it is. Any ideas?

Pretty sure that “stock” photo from Atlantic Brew Supply is incorrect but I’d definitely say it’s the xtra dark Crystal from Bairds. See their website description

That description has me wanting to order a few pounds to try out, but I can't seem to find it at my usual online retailers. Sounds like it might be comparable to special B?

I haven't actually used it yet, but I see it in a ton of dark British recipes, as well as a lot of bitters.

The shop I mail order from does the same thing with cryptic letters written on the bag with a sharpie. I can usually figure it out. But some of them can be a challenge. When you get a bunch you can’t identify you throw them all together and its brown ale time. The best brown ales I made were done this way. Left over unidentified grains and clean out all the odds and end bags that only have a few ounces left.
