Let's Build A recipe!!!

So looking over what I have left for ingredients, I'm gonna make a random beer...

I'm not ready to just experiment on my own, so I'm here for help.

As of right now I have extras of this:

3.5 Oz Amarillo Pellets @ 8% AA
20 g Centennial Pellets @ 9.1%
1 oz 2g Cascade Pellets @ 5.9%
1 pound Pilsner Malt

These ingredients resulted from a few modified recipes. Where do you guys go when you have excess ingredients that you want to throw together into a recipe? I'm doing partial mashing with extracts and can do up to 5.5 gallon boils.

My Amarillo Pale Ale (my "haus-ale" lately) would use up ~2/3oz of Cascade and ~3oz. of Amarillo, if you are interested. Its an AG recipe, but could easily be converted. Also, you could probably dry-hop with whatever is left over. I didn't dryhop, but I may next time. Anyway, its a very easy drinking session-ale in the American style. ~5%ABV, 30IBU only. I love Amarillo hops, so I love it...

either way, not enough to make a beer.
if i had those things lying around id make an IPA (though i think you just made one with those same things, or i saw something similar in another thread), APA, or maybe a really hoppy american amber...

Ya we are working on a Sierra Nevada Celebration Clone, and ended up with some extra pilsner grains after the last brew session. Obviously I don't have enough to make a beer, but these are the ingredients I'm trying to build with.

What he said... Since this is my 'haus' ale I wanted to be able to perform short turn-around if need be (7-10 days, keg). I used gelatin to aide in clearing, but it is not necessary... For most beers I never use gelatin and they clear fine given time.

the unfortunate thing about the recipes housed at beertools are for the most part untested

Well, you'd hope they were tested once but I doubt the authors are honest enough to go back in and either delete them or add "um, not so good" to the notes.

Most ale recipes are using between 7 and 10 LBS total grain for a 5 or 6 gallon batch and then some lighter caramel or munich for charactor and carapils for nice head retention. Use vienna to add sweetness (or not).

Just look at recipes and pick one you like.

After looking around, with my spare ingredients I'm going to go for a pale ale with a little more kick from the amarillo. I'll let ya know what I end up making after we get our SNCA clone finished this weekend...
