length of nipples for your bulkhead?

in the process of welding some bulkheads to my kegs and in my research I forgot to figure out what size nipples to buy... I have 1/2" npt bulkheads but am wondering what length nipples people are using to connect the bulkhead to their ball valves.... im thinking i may just get the shortest nipple i can so i don't have a ball valve sticking way out... ive considered the heat from the flame but as i have not yet brewed on a keggle i don't really know how intense it is.... if it helps im using the 10" banjo burner from bayou.

First off, I feel I must admit I chuckled like a middle schooler at the title of this.

I think 2" is as small as you could go and still have something to work with.

Is a silver dollar 2"?

If you're planning on screwing things into both ends, make sure you have full couplings and not halves. Never heard of a half coupling that's 2" though

I got one 1.5", cut it in half and got a nice pair. Otherwise i'd poke an eye out.

(to weld on vs bolt on... not that i would complain about a bolt-on...)
