no thnx

I like Zeplin but if I want to see a bunch of geratrics stumbling around and making noises from the 60's/70's I'll head to a nursing home

Is it for real? I've heard that rumor almost every year since Jason released an album.

Speaking of, how did THAT drummer become so important?

He has a famous dad.

Speaking of famous drummers with kids, The Who plays with Ringo Star's kid on drums and he is AWESOME, apparently he took lessons from Keith Moon back in the day and it shows, he blew me away when I saw them...(i had no idea who it was at the time, just that he was great, very Keith Moon-esque)

I've always herad they were the worse live band ever.

Seems reasonable to me because almost every Zep song has 4-7 guitar overdubs.

Last time I saw Page on TV he was like 300 lbs... ...I'm sure he can't...won't...hit very many high notes. They'll have to hire a guy to assist in the singing for sure.

Don't know why, when he could play the guitar like this:

(Not that he needed the overdubs, probably just a perfectionist.)

I think you mean Robert Plant? BTW, Bill, weight has nothing to do with vocals, and it may even help, just ask Luciano Pavarotti.
:D

As a teen in the 70s, I was really into Zep. But when they came out with that movie, " The Song Remains The Same", I thought; Man, if that's the best footage they could come up with for a movie, .....THEY SUCK!!!'
I've always been more interested in a band for their live performances rather than their records.( Their records were great) I doubt that they'd be any better, live, now, then they were back then.

OMG TSRTS sux. Self indulgent crap. There are only a few good moments in the whole thing. And the best song on there was left off the soundtrack and that's "Since I've Been Loving You".

Now if you want to see them at the most amazing best, check out the 2 dvd set, "How the West Was Won". Particularly check out disc 1, which is them live at the Royal Albert Hall in 1970. Abso-freaking-lutely brilliant.

I for one, will go see them if they tour with Jonesy and Jason on drums.

Believe it when I see it tho.

Now if you want weird, I changed my AV last night in a drunken haze to Bonzo, long before Torben started the thread. :drunk:

I was just about to ask if that was him.

As far as a reunion goes, I think the success/quality all depends on the kind of songs they play. I mean, since they're old, if they try their rock songs (i.e. Immigrant Song, Whole Lotta Love, Blackdog), then it'd suck. But, if they stick with the accoustic ones (i.e. Tangerine, Going To California, That's The Way), then it could be a good sound.

Anyhow, since they were a bit before my time and I missed them, I'd go see them. Better late than never, I guess. I've listened to their albums so much, I'd probably be dissappointed from seeing them live, though. :(

If Jimmy can still play White Summer/Black Mountain Side, then I'd walk outta there a happy man.

You're right, it was Plant...and his singing ain't what it used to be either...

Now about the guitar playing...that was 1970...the last thing he did acoustically was with Coverdale-Page. Most of that stuff I picked up my guitar and played it the first time I heard it.

The reason he needed the overdubs was because of the layers of music. My point was their on-stage repertoir was limited because of it.

The other posted who mentioned the Song Remains the Same hits it right on the head...pure trash...it's the only LZ CD I will never own...

I watched Plant on some PBS concert doing Led Zepplin songs and he sounded god awful.

I did see Page and Plant tour and was pretty satisfied with the whole show. I had also seen both Page with The Firm, and Plant solo and those were good shows as well. But since I hadn't gotten to see Zep, I figured the Page/Plant show would be my only chance. I'll go see them if they tour regardless. But it would be 10 times better if you had Jonesy and Jason back there. There's the old story about Bonzo putting Jason on the drums when he was a kid during a soundcheck and he went and stood out on the floor watching the warmups. Supposedly said it was the only time he ever got to "see" Led-Zeppelin live.

And Bill, you're absolutely right. many of their songs were so layered, they were difficult to reproduce on stage. Then. Not so much now. I for one would love to see an opening set of some obscure stuff from their albums, then an acoustic set of favorites, then a solid "HIT" set. I could name tons of songs I'd like to see in each category.

This might sound odd but Jones has to be in this or it's a dealbreaker for me.
He's the only one worth his salt musically.

It's a good thing that no one with the band has asked us HBTers to put together the "ingredients" for a set list.

We suck at polls.

Nailed it on having Jonesy as a part of the tour. It's a must. :rockin:

LOL and I'm rolling over my setlist. But no, wasn't going to make it a poll for that very reason.

And Ralph would only be concerned about whether or not the ticketholders were getting their moneys' worth, so he's out.

Damn, I didn't even recognize him. For some reason I thought it was Lindsey (sp?) Buckingham. Must be the dapper clothes. :D

I think 'The songs remains the same' is awesome!
Yeah they are kind of sloppy, but that movie is cool. Come on: John Bonham drag racing, Plant eating mushrooms then sword fighting with his sister and JP jones wearing giant onions on his sleeves! (ok when Page climbs the MT and finds the old man its corny as hell but during the Dazed solo the footage of the Hippie freaking out rules!)

The rumors of a Zeppelin reunion came from Toronto's Q107. The station claimed that Led Zeppelin would reunite as a result of other rock bands reuniting. Bands such as Crowed House, Rage Against The Machine, The Police, Jesus And Mary Chain and Van Halen. The claim was simple speculation. But, the report also supposedly stemmed from a supposed on air interview with John Paul Jones on CILQ FM radio, who stated a reunion was being considered. CILQ officials maintain that they never have actually spoken with Jones or interviewed him on or off air, so the reports are bogus.

Jason Bonham has been rumored to play drums for a Zeppelin reunion since the mid 80's. Jason plays drums with Foreigner, well kind of Foreigner, as the only original member is Mick Jones. Kelly Hansen of Hurricane started singing lead vocals in 2005, and Jeff Pilson of Dokken is playing bass. Lou Gramm to me is Foreigner, and without him, its just not Foreigner. But thats another story...

But what about the Easter...

Santa?

Both completely real and alive!

A Zeppelin reunion is the real myth.

Plus, who would want to listen to Robert Plant trying in vain to sing any of those old songs? He can only sing low now anyway, and thats not even worth a damn. Id like to see him try to sing Hangman now...he would drop a nut trying to sing it.:p
